What if you walked out of your burnt-out life and straight into a little bookshop on a quiet street? That’s the daydream this novel lives in.
Yeongju, the main protagonist, does exactly that, she quits her day job, opens a bookshop in her local street, and somehow it becomes less a business and more a living room where neighbours wander in, sip coffee, and slowly knit themselves into a community.
It’s a lovely read. The kind of bookstore fantasy where bills don’t exist. Very idealistic and dreamlike.
It’s a cozy afternoon read that leaves you with feeling warm & fuzzy. Not profound, not life-changing but a daydream of a novel best paired with tea or coffee.
